The East Middle School Media Center is located in the center of the school. Students come and go on a regular basis, sometimes by themselves, sometimes with their friends, sometimes with their teacher and classmates. Here's what you can expect to find:
  • Books - hundreds of fiction and non-fiction books (click here for online catalogue)
  • Reference Books - encyclopedias, dictionaries
  • Computer Lab - word processing, Internet research - includes a scanner
  • Educational magazines
  • Textbook covers, pencil/pen/paper machines (takes quarters only), bookmarks
Our rules are simple: no gum, quiet talking, must have a hall pass. Maximum number of checkouts is 2 books. Fines are $ .05 a day, with a 2 day grace period. If a book is lost or in some way destroyed, you pay the replacement cost. If you find your book after you have paid the replacement cost, we will refund your money. No refunds after the end of the school year. Students can not checkout books if they have an overdue book. Overdue lists are given to homeroom teachers each Monday. You can also expect to see staff members in the media center. They can checkout audio/visual equipment and materials, class book sets, and professional library materials, books for in-class projects, etc. The media center is also home to a poster maker, a stencil maker, a laminator, paper for bulletin boards, and a copy machine. Sometimes it's just a quiet place for a brief escape. Here are some online libraries anyone might find useful:
