APS Students - Courtney Wilborn (East Middle) & Sister Diondra Wilborn (Hinkley) traveled to Los Angeles, CA

MACKTRACK ELITE athletes and APS students Courtney Wilborn (East Middle School) who is the 2017 Middle School Long Jump, 200 and 400 meter champion & sister Diondra Wilborn (Hinkley High School) the 2017 EMAC 300 meter hurdle champion, were in Los Angeles thew weekend of 12/2/17 for a 3 hour classroom clinic with the Fastest Woman Alive! Carmelita Jeter and her legendary track coach John Smith.  

Coach Smith has consistently produced track and field champions, gold medalists and world record holders, and was honored as the U.S. Olympic Committee’s national track and field coach of the year in 1999.  Steve Lewis, Danny Everett, Marie-Jose Perec, Kevin Young, Inger Miller, Ato Boldon, Quincy Watts, Maurice Greene, Micky Grimes, Tori White, Angela Williams and Nicole Denby, Carmelita Jeter, who holds the second fastest 100 m time after Florence Griffith-Joyner. He also coaches Norwegian sprinter Jaysuma Saidy NdureNigerian sprinter Blessing Okagbare, Commonwealth Games Champion, and English Gardner, NCAA Champion at Oregon and US Outdoor Champion and others have all benefited from the insight and guidance of Coach Smith. 

Carmelita Jeter has run 10.64 in 100 meters, watch 2009 race here and in 2012 she ran the anchor leg on the Olympic gold medal 4x100 relay team that set the world record watch the race here
